We’re currently recruiting Trainee GRP Laminators to join a busy manufacturing site in Portland.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn an in-demand skill, receive full training and become part of an experienced manufacturing team.
What will you learn?
As a Trainee GRP Laminator, you’ll receive full hands-on training in the manufacture of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) components used to produce yacht hulls, decks and other parts.
You’ll learn:
– Traditional GRP wet lay-up techniques.
– Modern closed-mould and infusion processes.
– Safe use of tools, equipment and materials.
– Quality standards used within marine manufacturing.
– How components for luxury yachts are produced from start to finish.
Your initial training will take place within a dedicated Skills Centre, where you’ll learn in a structured environment before gaining experience alongside skilled tradespeople on the production lines.
Who are we looking for?
No previous laminating or boatbuilding experience is required!
We’re looking for people who are:
– Comfortable with physical, hands-on and labour-intensive work.
– Reliable and happy working as part of a manufacturing team.
– Keen to learn a skilled trade.
– Looking for the opportunity to build a long-term career.
Pay & Hours
Starting rate: £12.71 per hour
After 6 months of training: £14.42 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Overtime: Available when required
Employment type: Temporary ongoing pathway, expected to last around 12–18 months, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent role.
Important – Assessment Day
Applicants must be available to attend an Assessment Day on Wednesday, 30 September 2026 at the Portland site, with a view to starting the role on Monday, 12 October 2026.
