We are helping our client search for a temporary Lab Assistant to join their team until the end of October in their food factory.

You will need to ensure that sampling and testing is carried out in accordance with the sites testing schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Observe the highest standard of personal hygiene and good manufacturing policies.
• Produce accurate computer and manual records in a timely and efficient manner and report as relevant in the event of test results being out of specification.
• Carry out sampling and testing for chemical analysis for work in progress and finished products in accordance with sampling/testing schedules.
• Ensure the Laboratory Manager is informed in a timely manner when stocks of reagents, chemicals and materials are running low to prevent items becoming out of stock.
• Participate in training for their personal and professional development in keeping with the needs of the company and the department.
• Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety and that of others in keeping with the company health and safety policies.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Improve environmental impacts and costs by following work instructions and minimizing waste and energy use.

Personal Qualities:

• Previous practical lab experience – Essential
• Scientific Background – Essential
• Food Safety – Level 2 –Desirable – Can be provided
• Health and Safety – Desirable
• Dairy Food Industry or Food Science experience – Desirable
• IT literate and written and oral communication.
• Chemical training – Desirable
