Due to a major restructuring our client is seeking an experienced International Transport / Logistics Manager to join them in this contract role. Initially to run for one year but could be extended.
They are looking for an applicant to take full ownership of all aspects of transport and logistics for two sites in the UK, also working with Europe. This includes both primary logistic flows from manufacturing plants to Distribution Centers and also international and local transportation to Customers. Key Focus areas are implementation of standards, KPI management, Claims management and excellence in carrier performance management as well as new lane design/setup and Supply Network Design Implementation activities. This role will have direct interaction with key international supply chain roles within the company.
Your remit will include:
Identify, research and analyse transportation and supply chain cost saving opportunities, utilizing data maintained in various databases, to increase sales margin.
Provide consistency and quality in reporting and cost analysis.
Identify, plan/source and implement new transport services & improving service, security and costs.
Implement new transportation lanes in line with Supply Network Design and business requirements.
Research root cause of issues, recommend improvements in existing processes, and implement action plans to correct deficiencies.
Work continuous improvement projects for transportation involving up- or downstream supply chain departments like Procurement, Planning, DCs, Inventory Management.
Contribute to implementation of a claims management process and coordinate daily transportation related claims.
Support the freight tender process in connection with logistics purchasing team.
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement in the transportation department through Lean methodologies.
You will need:
Previous experience in international transportation.
Excellent understanding of all export and import related regulations (incl. dangerous goods, customs, etc.).
Excellent written and spoken English skills required / further language is a plus.
Knowledge of MS Office applications and ideally SAP.
Strong analytical, process and project management skills.
Ability to work independently with effective problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Proactively seeking improvement.
Based in Poole with salary £DoE plus free parking. Some travel to site in Midlands will be required.
