Our client based in Poole is looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Operations Leader to lead process and technical continuous improvement in their globally strategic distribution centre. We require an experienced Supply Chain leader with a proven track record of Project Management, experience in leading a large Supply Chain operation with multiple stakeholders and a strategic thinker with the ability to lead and inspire an organisation through change/continuous improvement.

The core focus of the role is to identify and deliver Warehousing and Transport breakthrough improvements in Service, Cost and Cash via the site’s continuous improvement programmes.

The Continuous Improvement Operations Leader role is a key leadership role that has significant contribution to delivering overall site results – you will report directly to the UK&I Logistics Director and be part of the site leadership team responsible for creating the future of the operational processes to meet ever-evolving customer requirements at competitive cost.

This role is a core operational leadership role, which requires close interaction with the operations teams on a daily basis, developing a good understanding of the operational processes/systems and engaging at all levels throughout the organisation.

Applicants must have extensive experience of the following:

Leadership and Ambition – this is a key influential leadership role for a large organisation (>100 permanent employees and up to 50 Agency at peak season). This is a critical leadership role on site that requires a dynamic and ambitious leader that can inspire and lead a large organisation along with challenging business processes to deliver continuous improvement in results. Ability to be self-driven and motivated to pro-actively identify opportunities and drive positive change in the organisation.

Strategic Thinking – external benchmarking and connection with business to understand what is required to be competitive on service and cost. Turn these insights into a clear strategy for the operation with a plan to deliver what is required to be competitive.

Strong Communication Skills – strong leader is required with good communication skills on a 1 to 1 and group level to ensure the wider organisation is fully engaged in the longer-term strategies. Must be comfortable and confident in presenting to large and small groups at all levels within the organisation.

Continuous Improvement – experience in developing Daily Management Systems and a culture of continuous improvement in an operational environment.

Project Management – proven Project Management experience managing multiple workstreams / functions and project stakeholders / sponsors.

Budget Management – the role has responsibility for creating the site’s year on year cost savings plans therefore must have experience and knowledge of budgets, budget management and a strong understanding of the financial implications that can arise from decisions being made.

Travel – the role is based in Bournemouth but may require occasional UK and European travel for business/customer meetings and DC benchmarking.

Core working Hours are Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week, based on site. You will be working with a 24-hour operation which will require flexibility for you to be on site outside of core hours on an adhoc basis to meet with the operations team for communications and/or urgent critical issues management.
