Thermoform Setter

Mploy in Poole are looking for a Thermoform Setter to join our client, who are one of Europe’s leading suppliers of cutting-edge packaging.
You will be required to run the thermoforming production lines to the required standards ensuring all procedures are adhered to.  You will also be required to comply with all operating and quality standards and ensure the area standards for health and safety, and hygiene are followed.  To complete tool & insert changes as and when required by the production plan. Ensure all machines run efficiently to correct rate ensuring the product is to required customer specification.  Move/restock material to keep production in operation.
Your tasks will be to:

  • Comply with all current Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Carry out tool & insert changes correctly to SOC’s within an appropriate time period.
  • Clean granulators, lines, towers, loaders and blenders between colour/formulation changes.
  • Set blenders correctly to recipes & BOM.
  • Change material rolls with minimum down-time and maintain records as required.
  • Ensure thermoforming machinery is running to standard cycle speeds with minimum material wastage.
  • Install and operate punch units correctly where required.
  • Ensure that product is manufactured within specification.
  • Complete quality checks as and when required & enter results correctly in M3
  • Stock check material at end of jobs & return unwanted stock.
  • Set up padding system correctly including hot glue guns and robots where required.
  • Change pad rolls as necessary.
  • For In-Line machines operate extruders including vents, vacuum pumps, screen packs, dies, casting rolls and lamination equipment effectively and safely.
  • Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards in the work area and around machines at all times.
  • De-pad trays and then grind scrap product and sheet in appropriate granulator as soon as it is produced.
  • Keep plastic properly separated – no mixed plastics of different colour or paper/absorbent pads/bubble pads when granulating.
  • Cover for Operators when required.
  • Adopt safe working practices to comply with Company and general health and safety requirements.

Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for technical work and a good understanding of the extrusion process although full training will be provided. Along with;

  • The ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Awareness of current Health and Safety practices
  • Reach and counterbalance Fork Lift Truck Licences are desirable but are not a must

Hours of Work
This role is on the continental shift pattern; your hours of work will be an average of 42 hrs a week, working hours will include days, nights and weekends with shift times 06:00 – 18:00 and 18:00 – 06:00

This position is offered on a permanent basis with a salary of £26,300 per annum.
