Due to an increase in business levels our client, an international boat building company, is looking to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineering to work as part of their newly formed Manufacturing Engineering department.
You will observe, analyse, develop and improve manufacturing processes to reduce build hours and maximise financial contribution.
Duties will include:
Drive sustainable cost reductions through the re-engineering of products and materials.
Propose, cost, develop and implement Continuous Improvement initiatives, driving improvements in quality, cost, standard hours and process flow.
Implementation, development and monitoring of standard work processes.
Assist in training of line staff in LEAN methodologies, including 5S, Value stream mapping, Standard work, Set up reduction, Kanban and Continuous flow and layout of manufacturing areas.
Collaborate with cross functional trades to solve problems through analytical processes and resolve bottle necks to ensure product flow and vessel delivery.
Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, assembly, tooling and materials.
Improve manufacturing efficiencies by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout.
Provide manufacturing decision making information through quantified production, labour and material costs with consideration of future production requirements.
Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales.
Analyse and improve material usage by reducing waste.
Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage all key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the manufacturing strategy.
You will need:
Good all-round boat building knowledge.
A qualification in, or knowledge of, continuous improvement techniques.
Excellent communication skills especially listening.
A tenacious mindset ready to deal with and overcome barriers to change, whilst being sensitive to the needs of others.
A natural leadership presence, ready to work collaboratively and with other departments.
Some leadership experience.
Working in Poole Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with salary DoE, 22 days holiday plus bank holidays and excellent benefits package.
