Role: Financial Controller/Bookkeeper

Location: Dorchester

Working Hours: Standard working hours, Monday-Friday

We are looking for an experienced accounts professional who may have held a similar role as a Financial Controller or perhaps a Bookkeeper with additional responsibilities within their current/previous company. This person requires the desire to learn and ambition to progress in order to become a key cog in the future growth of the business.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills and will be able to demonstrate experience of cross departmental systems/process improvements. You are likely to currently be in your first/second FC role, or you could be a Senior Financial Manager, the role is not sector specific, but will require a hands on approach and prior experience of working for an SME business is advantageous. You will establish a strong working relationship with the FD with the appointment of an additional member of support staff anticipated in the near future.

KEY DUTIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Able to support FD/Senior Management
  • Strong experience of Finance systems/reporting
  • Monthly Payroll
  • VAT Returns
  • Pension Documents
  • End of Year Accounts
  • Able to present the financial reporting to the management teams
  • Experience of evaluating current systems, implementing new improved systems, communicating and embedding change, continuous improvement of accounting systems
  • Strong background of commercial/business acumen, understanding of inter-departmental workflows with evidence of working across functional teams vital
  • Strong awareness of accounting processes to delivery accurate financial reporting
  • Able to self-motivate and effectively communicate timescales and deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills, assertive when necessary
  • Commercially aware and flexible
  • Knowledge of accountancy packages
  • Able to build strong relationships with 3rd Parties – banks and manage information flow to tax accountants/auditors help with prep of accounts
  • Other ad-hoc financial entries and requirements
